New learning circles for 2019!
SMALL CHURCHES WITH BIG HEARTS
The average congregation in North America will have 80 people worshiping and serving together this weekend. These congregations, often labeled as "small," are the norm in North American Christianity. But there is much to celebrate in the work of small congregations across Canada! Small churches are poised for large impact in their neighbourhoods, cities, and the world. Join RCA staff member, Andy Bossardet, and other church leaders across Canada, for season of encouragement and collaboration among pastors in similar situations. Click HERE to find out more! Canadian Women's Leadership Collaborative
Canadian RCA Women! We warmly welcome you to join other women across Canada in a new leadership collaborative. This is a partnership between the RCA’s office for Women's Transformation & Leadership, and the Regional Synod of Canada. The purpose of this group is to focus together on personal, organizational, and spiritual leadership. It is an 12-month experience, including:
It is designed for women in all areas of leadership - inside and outside the church. Click HERE to find out more. |
Too often, in the midst of conflict, we become stuck in default ways of behaviour, which harm others, the church, and Christ's witness to the world. But what if conflict could be seen as an opportunity for spiritual formation, and the development of Christian virtue? What if our deepest divisions are invitations from God to grow into the mature body of Christ? Join a monthly online learning community led by Daniel DeVries, Marijke Strong, and special speakers like Chris DeVos from the Colossian Forum. Click HERE to find out more! RCA Clergy Support Group
Statistics tell us pastors have one of the more stressful careers, with high percentages of depression and burnout. Many pastors also experience isolation. While most say they feel called to their work and feel blessed by it, there are also those who say it is hard to find a safe space to discuss their struggles, and to form meaningful community. The importance of pastoral self-care is becoming more and more apparent. That's why the Regional Synod of Canada is partnering with Shalem Mental Health Network to offer a confidential clergy support group. This will be a closed group for RCA pastors, running for 6-12 months, led by a trained therapist. The purpose is mutual encouragement, a safe space to share struggles, trained guidance, and helpful resources. Click HERE to find out more. |
previous 2018 learning circles (and learning communities)
RSC "Learning Circles" and RCA "Learning Communities" are small groups of leaders who gather to study a topic and to share their learning with the greater church.
Learning Communities are made up of church teams committed to deep, experiential learning together over a 12-24 month period. Learning Circles are smaller groups made up of individuals who have agreed to research a topic over a 6 month period, and to share their insights with our churches at the end of that time. |
In the Regional Synod of Canada we currently have two active "Learning Communities," and six active "Learning Circles" that are studying special topics through book and video studies. Contact Marijke to sign up or to find out more!
